The Environmental Benefits of LED Lighting

The best LED light bulbs come with numerous advantages. From cutting down the electricity bills to providing an even distribution of light, LED lighting has gained mass popularity in recent years. However, one of the major reasons behind the peak of LED lighting is its eco-friendly properties.

LED bulbs are energy-efficient

LED light companies offer an advantage to users by providing bulbs that are energy-efficient. Contrary to the traditional fluorescent and incandescent lights, LED bulbs are eighty-five percent more energy-efficient. LED is an effective option, as only five percent of energy loss is experienced ( through conversion to heat energy).  On the other hand, the traditional sources of light, such as fluorescent and incandescent lights, have a high rate (ninety-five percent) of energy loss, which is caused by the conversion to heat energy.

Similarly, the rate of power conversion is significantly less in LED bulbs. The amount of light emitted by an 84-watt fluorescent bulb is the same as the illumination observed from a 36-watt LED light. Therefore, as less amount of energy is consumed, the requirement from the power plants is decreased, which further reduces the rates of greenhouse emissions. In addition to this, LED lighting experiences a reduced rate of carbon dioxide emissions.  Taking this into account, it can be stated that approximately half a ton greenhouse gas emission is reduced by the use of one LED bulb.

Absence of toxic materials

LED lights are also free from non-toxic materials. Unlike the incandescent and fluorescent strips, LEDs do not include noxious chemicals, like mercury. As a result, the disposal of LED lighting is not damaging to the environment. In contrast, the disposal of the traditional lights requires an arrangement with a registered waste carrier, which requires additional time and has potential environmental implications.

Better quality of light

LED bulbs produce an improved quality of light, as they are able to direct the flow in one direction. Whereas, the traditional lights tend to waste energy by radiating the light in all directions. With LED bulbs, you can illuminate the room with an improved level of brightness, without having to invest in multiple bulbs.  With that said, the traditional fluorescents and incandescent require more bulbs to give off a similar level of brightness.  Considering this, the lesser energy consumption, due to a decreased number of lights, is an environmentally-friendly option.

Durable lifespan

LED bulbs are durable and long-lasting. In fact, LEDs can last up to six times longer than other lights. This means that the reduced demand for the replacement of the bulbs can, in turn, decrease the carbon emissions. This is because lesser resources are required in the manufacturing, packaging and transportation processes.

LED lights are not only environmentally-friendly, but they are also versatile. You can find them in a plethora of designs, shapes and sizes. The lights come in different colour temperatures, dimmable features and vibrancy. If you are in the search of LED bulbs, floodlights, downlights, light strips or more options, visit Brightex LED.
